Leonard Ellerbe confirmed today on X that the fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach is still taking place on March 1st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) caused drama this week when he posted this message on Instagram on December 23rd: “Fight is fucking cancelled.” Davis later deleted the message. That same day, Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) posted a video of him working out, preparing for the fight.
Manufactured drama?
Some fans believe that Tank is trying to create fake drama to drum up interest in his mismatch against Roach as it is seen as another of his many picks during his 11-year pro career.
The fight has already been moved from December 14th to March 1st, and is seen as a product that no one wants. It won’t be a shock if Tank continues to make cancellation announcements to get fans excited about this match.

It’s unclear if former Mayweather Promotions CEO Ellerbe is still working with Tank Davis or if he’s the culprit.
Gervonta or his team didn’t think about what the fans’ reaction would be if they chose lightweight super featherweight Roach as their opponent.
