$3,267 Singapore WIS Payout

The Singapore government boosts the savings of low-income workers through the WIS scheme and also supports them with additional cash payments. The WIS payment you are entitled to is divided into cash payment and CPF contributions.

CPF contributions allow workers to stretch their retirement money for health care, housing and other expenses. With WIS, the government increases this contribution and helps workers save more for their secure retirement.

The government launched this scheme in 2007 and since then the scheme has been providing benefits to low income earners. This year, the government has expanded its reach and introduced a new category in the scheme.

Under WIS benefits, the government has offered benefits to workers in categories such as employed and self-employed, and now from 2025 we have a new category of Platform workers. The government claims that workers from this group are entitled to an annual salary of $3,267.

The authority will soon update the payment for self-employed persons based on their age on the official website. However, we think it will be the same for platform workers as previously platform workers were paid in the self-employed category.
  • The self-employed should know that recipients will receive 10% of their annual payment in cash, with the remainder paid into a MediSave account.

When will you receive your WIS payment?

Under the WIS scheme, eligible Singaporean workers receive a WIS payment every month. The Singapore authorities award the cash payout via a bank account linked to the PayNow NRIC or via GovCash. And if the recipient has not updated their bank account information with the government, they must immediately register a bank account through e-services.

Now the question is about when you will receive your payments, workers should know that Singapore authorities will send monthly payment from March year, therefore you will start receiving your 2025 payment only from 31st March 2025.

Singaporeans inquiring about the WIS payment date based on the payment month should understand the following points to estimate when they will receive the payment:

  • WIS payment for January 2025 will be processed in late March 2025 for PayNow-NRIC linked bank account/bank credit or first week of April 2024 via GovCash
  • Likewise, recipients can expect to be paid each month at the end of the second month following the payment via PayNow-NRIC linked bank account/bank credit or the first week of the third month following the GovCash payment month

Important note: The self-employed will receive a WIS payment once a year for the work they did in the previous year. The body pays the payment at the beginning of the next working year, so for the work you did in 2024, you will receive the WIS payment in April 2025.

How to apply for WIS 2025 payment?

Employees and platform workers do not need to apply for WIS payment as their eligibility will be determined based on their CPF account and its details, such as income and work done.

Self-employed people will first have to declare their income to IRAS and ensure that they make the required MediSave contribution in the working year. You can check your eligibility and MediSave contribution for the year via your MediSave account and calculate your payout via the WIS calculator.

The Singapore government has separated platform workers from the self-employed category this year, offering them a monthly WIS payment from this year. So, be prepared to save more than this year for your retirement and have more cash payouts.
