In provinces where the federal fuel surcharge applies, eligible households can get more back through the Canada Carbon Credit, formerly known as CAIP, than they pay as a result of the federal carbon pricing system. Eligible Canadians will receive their next quarterly CCR payment in January 2025.
The CCR is designed to help offset the costs of carbon pricing that the federal government implements in provinces whose carbon pricing systems do not meet federal standards.
