Millions of vulnerable Africans depend on the Sassa Grants (South African Social Insurance Agency) for life management. SRD (social relief trouble) is one of Sassa’s benefits that began during pandemic to support people and later extended.
The South African government increased the SRD payment last year on R370. Users will receive this payment each month and get the necessary help in managing their basic needs. The Agency processes the SRD payment during the last week of the month in the series during the period of the day.

Payment dates
Sassa announced the payment dates of the SRD for payments for payments in April 2025, so the recipients can check them below:
- Payment of SRD will be distributed from April 25 to April 30, 2025. Customers, where users can collect a payment on a specific day based on the last three digits of their identity numbers.
SRD payment will be distributed on time, recipients can receive SMS warnings from the Agency or can check Sassa internet platforms to collect their SRD support.
Checking the status of SRD
South African people who claimed that SRD Grant can check the status of grants online or through various other methods to make sure they will receive the payment on time. According to the SRD guidelines, the applicants may check the status in the following steps online:
- You can visit the official Sass website mentioned above.
- Then go to the option to check the status and enter your ID number and mobile number registered to Sass.
- Once you enter all the details and send them, the SRD status will appear on your screen.
If you think your SRD application is rejected, you can complain about the rejection of the agency to re -inspect it. SRD recipients can also check their SRD status via WhatsApp (082 046 8553), Moya App, USSD code (12069277#)or any other method.
Who will receive it?
According to the Sassa guidelines, people living in South Africa can request and receive SRD support when they meet the following criteria for fulfillment of conditions:
- You need to be a citizen of South Africa, a refugee or a permanent resident who legally lives in South Africa.
- South Africans earning under the restriction of revenue determined by Sassa -e will be acceptable to this benefit. The revenue limit is R624, so if you earn more than this or your bank account exceeds the limit, you will not get this benefit.
- This SRD support has been launched for unemployed people or people who are struggling to make money, so they should fulfill this criterion to get a payment.
- The age of the applicant for SRD support should be between 18 and 59.
- Applicants who receive any other state compensation or have the right to insurance compensation (UIF) will not be entitled to this benefit.
Payment method
The SASA Agency would process the SRD payment to recipients in the aforementioned interval following methods:
- Directly to bank account: Sassa gives the SRD payment to the recipient’s bank account according to their selected payment method.
- With post Office: Recipients can also collect their SRD scholarships through mail. Users who have decided to visit their closest pick ‘n pays or boxer supermarket to collect their payment. Recipients have to wait for an SMS Agency Available Payment Availability Message before payment of payment.
- Physical Checking: People can also receive SRD payment to physical check and obtain benefit.
If the SRD recipients want to change the payment method, they can change it by visiting the Sassa -ei official website by entering the necessary changes.
