The Saskatchewan Income Support program offers financial support to eligible citizens to cover their basic needs while they train and improve their skills. The provincial government provides this monthly grant.
SIS payment dates
Saskatchewan offers a variety of benefits under the Saskatchewan Support Income program to ensure people have enough support while they have low incomes, such as part-time income, and are trying to build skills to unlock better opportunities in the future.
The body processes SIS payments for the previous pay month, so people expect the December payment to be paid in November 2024. According to the Department of Social Services, 2024 payment schedule, recipients who chose to have checks mailed to them can expect their checks to be mailed to them. November 26, 2024, so I can expect payment anytime.
People who have opted for Direct Deposit can expect their payment to be deposited directly into their bank account on November 28, 2024, today. The next SIS payment you will receive is in December for January 2025.
What makes you eligible for SIS?
In the province of Saskatchewan, residents in need of financial assistance can check the eligibility criteria below for the SIS program:
- You are a Canadian citizen, have refugee status, are permanently resident in Canada, or entered the country under emergency travel approved by Ukraine, Canada,
- You are at least 18 years old to receive SIS,
- You are a Canadian citizen residing in the province of Saskatchewan.
- Your income is low or you have no source of income,
- You have invested everything in yourself to support yourself and meet your basic needs, such as employment to support a child, etc.
Benefits under the SIS program
Under Saskatchewan Income Support, residents of the province can receive benefits based on their needs, circumstances and other conditions, such as:
- You have dependent children living with you,
- You have a spouse or common-law partner
- You live in a remote area of a northern community
- You live in a rental property or pay a mortgage on the place you live.
Depending on your circumstances and needs, Saskatchewan residents can unlock the following benefits under the SIS program:
- Incentives for employment with a certain amount of income
- Basic benefits that cover your basic needs and shelter,
- Health security benefits that cover emergency care, prescribed nutrition benefits, stabilization and other benefits,
- Benefits that open up when your circumstances change, such as childcare, travel, employment and training benefits etc.
How much will you get through SIS benefits?
The amount you receive under SIS benefits depends on the benefit you were approved for when you applied for SIS payments. So, based on each compensation payment amount, you can calculate how much you can get in the upcoming payment:
- For singles who earn a certain amount, they can get $375,
- Couples without dependent children can receive $475,
- Households with dependent children can earn $500 per month, the maximum income for a family with one child is $3,533.34, with two $3,866.67, and with three or more children $4,200.
- People living outside the northern community will receive $355, and people living within the northern administration will receive $425 for basic benefits for adults and $65 per child for basic benefits for children.

- People can receive stabilization benefits of up to $150 for household maintenance,
- People can receive from 50 to 150 dollars for maintaining a prescribed diet to improve health,
- People can get health and safety benefits of up to $500 to house a new tenant or replace household items,
- People can get travel benefits for medical purposes, job interviews, meals, shelter, etc.
- People who live where natural gas is not available for heating can receive alternative heating benefits of up to $190 per month.
- People who need help learning new skills or joining a training program for better career opportunities can receive benefits under the Employment and Training Benefit of up to $140.
- People who do not qualify for Child Benefit can receive $400 in Child Benefit,
- People who are employed, attend school/training and have a child in a licensed nursery school can receive childcare benefits.
- People who relocate can receive relocation benefits of up to $200 to $300, depending on household size and moving costs, for employment purposes or when they find a good place to live.
- In addition, you can receive travel benefits, funeral benefits and a security deposit under the SIS programme.
How do I apply for Saskatchewan Income Support?
If you haven’t applied for Saskatchewan Income Support but you think you’re eligible and want to receive support, you can do so through Saskatchewan Accounts at all government offices. You will need the following documents to complete your SIS applications:
- Saskatchewan Health Services Number
- Social security number
- Your spouse/children/or legal partner SIN or HSN,
- Information about your property, vehicles or any other property you own,
- Your remaining money in the bank, investments, bonds, GICs, stocks and any other detailed source information,
- Documents about your living situation, household papers, apartment rental agreement or other
- Your and your spouse’s bank statements.
After submitting your SIS applications, you will receive a confirmation e-mail or SMS with the status of your application to your registered e-mail address or mobile phone number.
You must remain vigilant after you apply for SIS benefits as you may need to submit a Direct Deposit Authorization form, with other information to the authorities in order for them to receive your payment authorization and start receiving your payment.
