Schedule of social security payments in 2025
Monthly payments are made to eligible recipients based on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of birth as follows:
- If your DOB falls between the 1st and 10th of the month, your Social Security payment will be paid on the second Wednesday.

How Much Social Security Payment Will You Receive in 2025?
The SSA adjusts Social Security payments through an annual cost-of-living adjustment based on the CPI. In October 2024, the administration announced an adjustment to the 2025 COLA based on the third quarter 2024 and prior year CPI.
The administration announced a 2.5% COLA for 2025, which increases current welfare payments by $50. So, the maximum amount paid to Social Security recipients starting in January 2025 based on the 2025 COLA will be as follows:
- Retirees receiving pension benefits can receive a maximum monthly payment of up to $1,976 in 2025, up from the current amount of $1,927.
- The aMred couple where you both receive Social Security payments can expect their amount to increase to $3,089 from the current amount of $3,014.
- A widowed mother with two children will receive the maximum amount up to $3,761 from the current $3,669.
- An elderly widower who lived alone can expect his Social Security payment to increase to $1,832 in 2025 from the current $1,788.
- A disabled worker, spouse or one or more dependent children can expect a maximum payment of up to $2,826 from the current payment of $2,757.
- All disabled workers who qualify for Social Security can expect a maximum payment of up to $1,580 from the current $1,542.
What if you miss Social Security payments?
Social Security payments are generally processed on the appropriate pay date based on your date of birth, however, sometimes payments can be missing or a check is damaged or any other reason that can delay a payment. In this case, recipients should take the following actions to secure their payment:
- First, check your bank statement to see if you received the payment and if your bank is active.
- You should wait three business days before contacting the administration to inquire about your Social Security payment.
- If you do not receive your Social Security payment by a certain date and even wait three business days, you should contact the SSA by calling or visiting a nearby SSA office. You can call the administration at the following number:

- You can call SSA TTY at 1 800 325 0778 if you are hard of hearing or deaf.
You can report the missing payment to the SSA, the administration will review your claim and take appropriate action in the meantime.
Does the SSA reissue a Social Security check?
The administration can reissue the check after you report the missing Social Security payment, theft, destruction or forgery to the administration. You should provide the following information to the Social Security Office:
- Name and address on Social Security check
- Your claim number
- Your Social Security payment month.
The administration will review your check reissue request and if found to be valid, may reissue the check. That’s why the administration asks that social security recipients notify the authorities of their change of address in time if they move or change their address.
