Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. wins MLB’s first Entertainer of the Year award

Taking the field with passion and high energy every night, Guerrero was recognized as the winner of MLB’s inaugural Entertainer of the Year award on Thursday night.

In an Instagram post, MLB said Guerrero earned the award for shining “both on and off the field this season” while providing big moments, big energy and big style.

The honor was presented at the MLB Awards Show in Las Vegas, and while Guerrero was unable to attend, his godfather, Pedro Martinez, accepted the award on his behalf.

In Guerrero’s entertaining postseason run, in which the Blue Jays’ first baseman posted a 1.289 OPS en route to the World Series, Martinez channeled the 26-year-old’s ALDS-winning celebration, letting out a “Daaaa Yankees loss” at the crowd.

Guerrero’s on-field exploits were also recognized on Thursday, as he and teammate Bo Bechette were named to the All-MLB teams.

In the regular season, Guerrero posted a .292/.381/.467 slash line with 23 home runs, 84 RBI and 34 doubles.
