Canada’s Charlotte, Dubois, mixed relay team won the bronze medal in speed skating

Courtney Sarault, Steven Dubois and the mixed relay team all earned bronze medals for Canada on Sunday in an ISU short track speedskating event.

Sarlatt, of Moncton, NB, led the women’s 1,500m race going into the final lap but couldn’t hold off Korea’s Choi Manjeong and Kim Gil, finishing third in two minutes, 30.985 seconds. Manjeong won in 2:30.656 ahead of Glee (2:30.610).

Sarlat won his third medal at that distance this season, winning back-to-back gold medals during two World Tour stops in Montreal in October.

Sarol was also fourth in the 500m race.

Dubois, Terrebonne, Que. Joe was third in the men’s 1,000 meters in 1:25.283. Jens van T Voot of the Netherlands took the win (1:25.147) and Italian Pietro Segal won the silver (1:25.195).

“Of course, I would have liked to be on top of the podium, but I haven’t finished lower than sixth in any distance in the competition this year,” Dubois said. “It’s good consistency and good confidence, and I think I can give it a little more next week for the gold medal.”

Dubois teamed with William Dandjinou, Florence Brunelle and Danaé Blais to win bronze for Canada in the 2,000m medley relay. The Canadians finished in 2:40.224 behind the Netherlands (2:40.224) and Korea (2:40.155).

Charlotte leads the women’s standings with 570 points, 90 ahead of American Corinne Stoddard. Dundejno, of Montreal, leads the men’s standings with 642 points, comfortably ahead of Segal (432) and Dubois (422).
