One of the most decorated curlers in Canadian history has passed.
Colleen Jones died on Monday, her son Luke announced in a statement. She was 65 years old and had cancer.
The Halifax native won six Scottish Tournament of Hearts national titles, including four in a row from 2001-04. She shares the record for most national titles with Jennifer Jones and Jail Officer.
Jones also won two world championships along with one world senior championship. She played in a record 21 national championships.
Jones also had a very successful broadcasting career. She retired from CBC in 2023 after nearly 40 years with the broadcaster.
Jones joined CBC in 1986 as Halifax’s first female sports anchor. He also worked for NBC at Olympic curling events.
Jones was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2022 and was inducted into the Canada Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
