The move leaves the Canucks with just one active goaltender in Nikita Tolopelo, paving the way for the return of Kevin Lincoln.
Lincoln, 30, is out Wednesday for personal reasons. He owns a 3.64 goals-against average and .880 save percentage in 13 games (12 starts).
Petra, 26, appeared in one game with the Canucks, allowing seven goals in a loss to the Florida Panthers in early November.
Lackermaki, 21, has not skated for the Canucks since being placed on injured reserve in October. He was activated before IR in November, but was immediately sent down to the AHL.
He has one goal in four games with Vancouver.
