Canucks D Victor Mancini out early vs. Oilers

Defenseman Victor Mancini was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers after he left the bench in the second period and did not return for the third period.

The 23-year-old logged 8:18 of ice time before ending his final shift with 5:17 remaining in the middle frame. It was not immediately clear what caused him to leave the game.

Mancini started the game as the Canucks’ sixth defenseman. They were already short-handed on the blue line with captain Quinn Hughes held out of the lineup with a lower-body injury.

Mancini was recalled by the Canucks after skating in Saturday’s game with Abbotsford, and likely brought down Tom Willander in the next move.

The Hancock, Mich., native was drafted by the New York Rangers in the fifth round of the 2022 draft but was traded to the Canucks in January of 2025 as part of a blockbuster deal for JT Miller.

He has skated in four contests this season, averaging 11:05 time on ice with a minus-2 rating. In 35 career NHL games, he scored two goals and added eight assists.
