Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister resigns over pictures of him shooting from a car

In a resignation statement posted on Facebook, Dabro, who is also the minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, said he did not want to become a distraction for the government.

He said he had experienced “significant pressure and threats” over plans to change positions.

The footage was made public within a week.

Dabro’s party is in a coalition government with the Croatian Democratic Union Party (HDZ) of Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.

Last November, Health Minister Vili Bros was fired before a corruption investigation.

On Monday, Zoran Milanovic was re-elected president for a second term, winning almost three-quarters of the vote ahead of his opponent Dragan Primorac, who is supported by the HDZ party.

After the result, Plenkovic said that “Milanovic offered nothing” and refused to congratulate him. The president in Croatia performs the most ceremonial role.
