Donald Trump considers 10% tariffs on China from February

US President Donald Trump has said he is considering imposing a 10% tariff on imports of Chinese-made goods as soon as February 1.

Trump said his discussions with the administration “are based on the fact that they are sending fentanyl to Mexico and Canada.”

It follows a threat by Trump to impose a 25% import tax on Mexico and Canada, accusing them of allowing undocumented migrants and drugs into the United States.

On his first day in office, the new president also ordered federal agencies to review existing trade deals and determine fair practices by US trading partners.
