Flames can’t solve Busy in OT loss to Hurricanes


Raleigh, N.C. — Carolina rookie Brandon Busey made 15 saves for his first NHL shutout, Nikolaj Ehlers scored at 2:52 of overtime, and the Hurricanes beat the Calgary Flames 1-0 on Sunday for their second straight win.

Ehlers beat rookie goalie Devin Cooley after Taylor Hall put the puck in the net. Ellers scored his fifth goal of the season and first in seven games. Sean Walker also contributed.

Bussey played back-to-back games for the first time in his NHL career.

Cooley blocked 16 shots. The Flames lost for just the second time in their last six games. They suffered a third shutout this season.

Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal returns from a three-match injury absence. He played a little over 14 minutes.

Flames: Tuesday night in Nashville.

Storm: Host Toronto Thursday night.
