Flames GM Craig Connery is making progress on the stretch

It looks like the Calgary Flames general manager will remain at the helm through a major overhaul of the team.

The Flames and Craig Conroy are making progress on a contract extension, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Wednesday.

Conroy has been the Flames’ GM since May 2023, when Brad Treliving left the organization for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Previously, he served as an assistant GM under Trelling from 2014 to 2023.

Treliving, 54, spent two stints with Calgary as a player, from 2000 to 2004, then from 2006 to 2011 to finish his career with the Flames.

The Potsdam, NY, native joins recently promoted head coach Ryan Haska, who signed a two-year deal that will keep him under contract until 2028.
