Frankel has a shutout win over the flat-top victor in the season opener

LOWELL, MASS. – Susanna Tapani scored 73 seconds into the game, Megan Keller added a power-play goal early in the third period, and the Boston Fleet closed the opening weekend of the PWHL season with a 2-0 victory over the Montreal Victoire on Sunday.

Erin Frankel scored 25 for Boston.

Tapani put a shot on goal from the left circle, and it bounced past Ann-Renee Desbiens.

Marie-Philippe, who took a double penalty late in the second round, was penalized for an illegal check as she exited the box in the third round. Keller took advantage, waiting patiently at the edge of the crease until the puck found him for an insurance goal.

Montreal: Victoire has its home opener against New York on Tuesday.

Boston: The Flats are in Toronto on Saturday.
