The New York Giants are in line to get their rookie QB back for an inter-conference game.
Quarterback Jackson Dart has cleared the concussion protocol and could start Monday against the New England Patriots, the team announced Thursday.
Dart is coming off a Week 10 showdown against the Chicago Bears and has played games against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
The 22-year-old was hit by Bears defensive lineman Austin Booker and defensive back C.J. Gardner Johnson on a run with 5:05 left in the third, resulting in a fumble.
Although he remained in the game for a short while after the game, he was replaced by veteran QB Russell Wilson in the fourth quarter after being evaluated for throwing a dart.
The former Ole Miss QB impressed in his rookie year, throwing for 1,417 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. A dynamic two-way QB, Dart has added 317 yards on the ground with seven touchdowns and three fumbles.
When Dart takes the field once again, he will be playing under a new head coach, third-year coach Brian Daboll was fired after the loss to the Bears. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has since taken over.
The Giants are currently 2-10, but were 2-5 in the start with Dart under center.
