Head coach Scott Erniel tore the Jets apart after their fourth straight loss

After Friday’s 5-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Winnipeg Jets’ losing streak hit a season-high four games.

And while the frustration is evident among the players, it seems no one is more worried about the skid than head coach Scott Arniel.

“We had a lot of people forget to show up early in the game,” Arniel told Mike McIntyre. Winnipeg Free Press. “I think I’ll have to scream a little more, longer or harder.

Friday’s game was tied 1-1 until the third period, when the Hurricanes exploded for four goals in the final frame. With a paltry 13 shots on Hurricanes backup Brandon Bussey all night, the Jets looked nothing like last season’s Presidents Trophy-winning squad.

When McIntyre asked Arnell about pairing rookie Elias Salomonson with Josh Morrissey over Dylan DeMelo, the coach appeared to be calling his No. 2 D-man.

“It had to do with some guys (who) weren’t ready to play.

The loss dropped the Jets to 12-11-0, good for sixth in the Central Division and three points out of the final Western Conference wild card spot.

The Jets return to the ice Saturday to face the Nashville Predators on Hockey Night in Canada (SportsNet and SportsNet+, 7 pm ET / 6 pm CT).
