BBCWith many families left traumatized by killings apparently linked to witchcraft rituals in the Sierra, BBC Africa looks into the body trade behind it.
WARNING: This article contains details some readers may find disturbing.
The mother of an 11-year-old boy killed as part of the alleged black magic killing four years ago is so neglected that no one has been brought to justice for his death.
“I’m in pain today. They killed my son and now there is pain,” Sallay Kalokoh BBC, including the amputated organs, eyes and an arm.
He went home in the market and never came back.
The family searched for him for two weeks – and finally found his absolute dead body at the bottom as well.
“We always tell our children to be careful. If you sell, don’t go to the corner or cours from a foreigner. They are often foreigners in this country,” Ms Kalokoh said.
This murder in my hometown of Makeni, in central Sierra Leone, has haunted me as we often hear of reports of killings linked to black magic, also known as juju, that are never followed up or properly investigated by the authorities.
In the case of the murder, the police did not confirm that it was a “capitual murder” – when a person is killed because of the practice of magic by magic.
They promise things like prosperity and power to clients who pay large sums. Parts of the human body can make the digestion like more poti.

Both said they were part of a larger network – and one said he had a strong customer base in central west Africa. The BBC was unable to verify this claim.

On the second visit, Kana gets convinced and shows OSWman what he says he says is evidence of him – the human accuser.
“You see this? It belongs to someone else. I’m drying it for them. It’s a woman’s skull. I expect people to vote today or tomorrow.”
He also left a hole behind his whistle: “This is where we hang the human part. We get weakness, I’m going to be there.
When Osman specified that he wanted a female member from a woman used in the ritual, Kanu got down to business: “The price of a woman is 70m) $ 3.50; $ 3.50). $ 3.50; $ 3,000).”

Don’t bother yourself, we won’t meet Kanu again. He is already a scammer, but we are taking our evidence to the local Police to investigate further.
