Alabama and Miami are in, Notre Dame is out and Indiana is No. 1 in the College Football Playoff’s 12-team bracket released Sunday.
The undefeated Hoosiers moved into the top spot based on their historic win in the Big Ten title game against Ohio State, which fell one spot after a 13-10 loss. SEC champion Georgia was third and Big 12 champion Texas Tech was fourth. All four get first-round byes.
Much of the drama surrounded the bubble teams, and it was No. 9 Alabama and No. 10 Miami making up ground by knocking off Notre Dame, who lost to the Hurricanes during the opening week.
American Conference champion Tulane finished 11th and Sun Belt champion James Madison finished last over Atlantic Coast Conference champion Duke.
The rest of the field: No. 5 Oregon, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 8 Oklahoma.
The playoffs begin Dec. 19-20 with first-round games: James Madison at Oregon; Tulane in Mississippi; A&M in Miami Texas; and Alabama at Oklahoma.
The final is scheduled for January 19 outside Miami.
