Jets’ Neal Pionk exits vs. Wild with lower-body injury

Defenseman Neil Pionk suffered a lower-body injury and will miss the remainder of the game against the Minnesota Wild, the team announced Sunday.

Pionk threw a hit on the first shift of the game, and appeared on the bench in pain. He later went to the locker room after playing just 2:05 in the opening frame.

The 30-year-old registered one goal and four assists in 20 games this season, after signing a six-year, $42 million extension in April. He has a total of 261 points (45 goals, 216 assists) in 556 games.

The Jets are already down the back end of Haydn Fleury as he deals with a concussion suffered on Nov. 12.
