Lightning’s Point Cernak will not play vs. Flyers, Kucherov good to go


Point was hurt during Saturday’s game against the Washington Capitals after suffering an undisclosed injury late in the second period. Cooper was unsure if Point would be able to play Wednesday against the Calgary Flames.

After returning to the lineup from a two-game absence against the Capitals, Cernik suffered a different injury that would force him to miss significant time. He had 22:24 assists in ice time.

The Lightning’s blue line has been hit hard by injuries with captain Victor Hedman and veteran Ryan McDonagh sidelined. The team recalled defenseman Makim Groshev from the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch.

Forward Nikita Kucharov was a participant in the morning skate when he left Saturday’s game with an undisclosed injury. The 32-year-old has 10 goals and 22 points in 19 games this season.
