Lynn Ban: Singaporean star of Bling Empire died after a skiing accident

In a social media post on New Year’s Eve, Ban revealed that while skiing at the top of the mountain he fell and “face planted”.

When he put on the helmet, “it wasn’t bad at the time and I was able to ski down,” he said, adding that a ski patrol officer later checked for a concussion and cleared him.

But he still had “a little headache” and decided to go to the hospital, on the advice of a paramedic. He then discovered he had a brain bleed, and performed an emergency craniotomy.

“In the blink of an eye … life can change,” she once wrote in the post, which was accompanied by a picture of herself in bed with her head partially shaved. “There is a long road of recovery ahead but I survived.”

Born in Singapore, Ban has worked in New York, London and Paris.

Her designs have been worn by pop stars Madonna, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Cardi B and Billie Eilish, according to her website.

In Bling Empire New York in 2023, she is part of a cast of Asian American socialites who “celebrate wealth – and fashion – while bringing drama and life to New York City”, according to Netflix.

In his tribute, Sebastian Ban said he wanted the world to know who his mother was as a person.

“He always had a smile on his face even when times were tough during his recovery process,” he said.

“She fought to the end and was the strongest woman I know,” he said.
