A man wielding a stick attacked four homeless people in downtown Miami early Thursday, killing two and injuring two others in what police are calling a “horrific display of unprovoked violence.”
At 6:00 a.m., this man was seen attacking someone with a stick, according to Miami police. Police responded shortly after the call and found a man matching the description given. He fled but was arrested after a short foot chase, police said.
Two of the homeless people died at the scene of the attack. The two injured people were taken to a nearby hospital, according to the police. There were no measures taken by them.
Officials did not immediately release the name of the man, who is in his 30s. They said they will release his identity and charges once the charges against him are confirmed. The motive for the attack is unclear, police said.
