Marco Rossi is trending toward the first game with the Canucks on Sunday


Marco Rossi is trending toward making his Canucks debut Sunday against the New Jersey Devils, head coach Adam Foote told reporters, per Thomas Dance of . Athletic.

Rossi was part of the haul that came along with fellow center Liam O’Green, defenseman Zev Boim and a 2026 first-round pick in Friday night’s Hughes trade from Minnesota.

Hughes is also set to make his debut with his new team on Sunday.

Rossi, 24, has played 202 regular season games for the Wild in his NHL career. The five-foot-nine, 182-pound Austrian has four goals and nine assists in 17 games for Minnesota this season.

His addition to the Canucks lineup will be welcomed with fellow center Elias Patterson set to miss his fourth straight game with an upper body injury.

Forward Nils Hoaglander was sick on Saturday, but is expected to be good to go for Sunday.

Furthermore, Vancouver will be without a captain in Hughes’ absence, per Foot. Defenseman Filip Horonik, meanwhile, will get an ‘A’ on his jersey.
