Messi, Inter Miami defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps to win the first MLS Cup


Miami – Inter Miami has won its first MLS Cup.

Tadeo Allende scored in the 96th minute of Miami’s 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Major League Soccer championship game on Saturday.

The matchup was billed as a battle between two of the league’s top talents, with Argentine star Lionel Messi captaining Miami and German legend Thomas Müller playing for Vancouver.

It was Vancouver’s Adair Ocampo who opened the scoring, however, with an own goal in the eighth minute to give Miami an early 1-0 lead.

Whitecaps midfielder Ali Ahmed scored his first goal in an MLS game this year to tie the score at 60.

Rodrigo De Paul put the home side ahead once again in the 70th minute and Allende sealed the victory in injury time.
