Nino Niederreiter scored twice as the Jets snapped a four-game skid with the win over the Predators


Nashville, Tenn. – Nino Niederiter scored twice and the Winnipeg Jets snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.

Gabriel Velardi, Cole Perfetti and Kyle Connor also scored, and Eric Comrie snapped his three-game skid with 20. Dylan Samberg had three assists, and Luke Shannon added two.

Luke Evangelista had a goal and an assist for Nashville. Nick Blankenberg also scored and Justice Anonen scored 20 runs. The Predators had won two in a row.

Villardi scored 47 seconds into the game, tapping in the rebound of a shot by Mark Schaeffel. The Predators allowed a goal in the first minute for the third straight game — they also did it last Saturday against Colorado and Monday against Florida.

Niederreiter made it 2-0 with 53.2 seconds left in the first, deflecting a wrist shot by Annunen on the short side of a pass from Shin. Niederreiter and Schenn are former Predators.

Perfetti made it 3-0 with 7:42 left in the second. Below the Nashville line, Vladislav Namestnikov found Perfetti alone in the streets, where he defeated Anon with a one-timer.

Blankenburg scored a power-play goal with 2:58 left in the second.

Evangelista pulled Nashville within one at 2:45 of the third when he took a backhand off a tight handle over the shoulder of Room.

Connor’s goal at 9:37 of the third restored Winnipeg’s two-goal lead. He has 16 goals and 15 assists in 32 career games against Nashville.

Niederreiter added an empty-netter in the final minute.

Win: Monday night at Buffalo.

Predators: Host Calgary on Tuesday night.
