Padres Yu Darvish undergoes UCL surgery, will miss 2026 season

The Padres announced on Tuesday that Darvish underwent UCL surgery with an internal brace on his right shoulder on Oct. 29, as well as a flexor tendon repair.

With a recovery time of 12 to 15 months, Darvish confirmed the surgery in a social media post, saying, “I will work hard on my recovery to be able to throw the ball comfortably again.”

This past season, the 39-year-old didn’t take the mound until July after dealing with inflammation. He went 5-5 in 15 appearances with a 5.38 ERA and 1.181 WHIP over 72 innings.

Darvish is 115-93 in 297 career starts with a 3.65 ERA and 1.138 WHIP over 1,778 innings.
