Report: 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy to start against Cardinals

After a six-game absence, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback will start the season on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday.

The last time Pardee took the field was a 26-21 Week 4 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The third-year quarterback has played in just two games this season while dealing with a turf toe injury.

Mack Jones filled in for the side while he was away, throwing for 2,151 passing yards, 13 touchdown passes and six interceptions. He led the 49ers to a 5-3 record.

The 49ers, who are currently 6-4 and sitting in third place in the NFC West, are still very competitive in the division and have a strong chance at making the playoffs.

Pardee’s return should boost the offensive side of the ball following the team’s 42-26 Week 10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
