Saif Ali Khan: Bollywood star ‘out of danger’ after attack at his home in Mumbai

“Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is now in recovery and doctors are monitoring his progress,” Khan’s team said in a statement.

Khan is married to Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan and the couple have two children together. The family has not made a public statement but Khan’s team said they are safe.

Khan was taken to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital in the early hours of Thursday.

Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s chief operating officer, told BBC Marathi that Khan had received six stab wounds, two of which were deep.

The exact details of the attack are not yet clear. The police said that “unknown persons” had entered the actor’s house.

“After that, an argument broke out between Khan and the intruder,” Mumbai’s Deputy Police Commissioner Dixit Gedam told BBC Marathi.

Khan’s team said it was a case of “attempted theft” but did not share details.

“We ask the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter,” they said.
