The Alouettes extended quarterback Davis Alexander until 2028

Montreal has locked down their man under center.

The Alouettes have extended starting quarterback Davis Alexander to a one-year contract that keeps him in Montreal until 2028, the team announced Tuesday.

The Alouettes signed Alexander to a three-year extension last offseason, and later traded veteran and 2023 Gray Cup MVP Cody Fajardo to Edmonton.

Alexander led the Alouettes to the Green Cup this past season, where they came up short against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Alexander had three interceptions against Saskatchewan, completing 22 of 34 pass attempts.

Alexander battled injuries throughout the season and went into the playoffs, going undefeated in his seven starts, playing just eight regular season games. On the year, he threw for 2,024 yards, completing 72.5 percent of his passes.

The 27-year-old Washington native went undrafted out of Portland State in 2022, and joined the Alouettes that offseason. Alexander won the Green Cup with Als in 2023, assisting Fajardo.

“We are pleased that we were able to come to an agreement with Davis and his camp on an extension,” Alouettes general manager Danny Macoscia said in a statement. We are excited to see him lead us over the next few years.
