The Avalanche signed goalie Scott Wedgewood to a one-year contract extension

Scott Wedgewood signed a one-year contract extension through next season, the team announced Thursday.

The deal is worth $2.5 million, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported.

Wedgewood, 33, has started 14 games for the Central Division-leading Avalanche this season, posting a 10-1-2 record, a .913 save percentage and a 2.26 goals-against average.

The Brampton, Ont., native joined the Avalanche in a trade from the Nashville Predators early last season and immediately helped solidify the net along with fellow trade acquisition Mackenzie Blackwood, appearing in 19 games with a .919 save percentage and 1.99 GAA.

Selected in the third round of the 2010 draft by the New Jersey Devils, Wedgewood has also appeared in games for the franchise in addition to the Arizona Coyotes, Dallas Stars, Predators and Olanchi.

Over 168 career contests, he sports a .907 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA.
