The Canadiens claim that Sammy Bliss waived the Maple Leafs


Sammy Bliss is returning to the team he originally planned to spend the 2025-26 season.

The 29-year-old from Montgomery, Que. From, was previously claimed off waivers by the Maple Leafs from the Canadiens on October 6th. He signed a one-year contract with Montreal at the opening of free agency on July 1.

Blais recorded one goal and three points in eight games with Toronto.

He spent the entire 2024–25 season in the AHL, recording 40 points (14 goals and 26 assists) in 51 games with the Abbotsford Canucks, an affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.

Originally drafted in the sixth round (176th overall) by the St. Louis Blues in 2014, Blais has 74 points (28 goals and 46 assists) in 265 career NHL games with the Maple Leafs, Blues and New York Rangers.
