Those were the last words Mr Chung spoke to his wife after a massive fire tore through the complex

It was around 15:00 Local Time (07:00 GMT) when he got the phone call saplicked. She said she couldn’t get out of the flat with her cat.

He rushed from work to find a 31-store building on fire, using black smoke.

Nearly 300 people are still unaccounted for – Mr. Chung’s wife is among the many missing.

The BBC spoke to several residents who were not at home or managed to escape. Some, like Mr Chung, have been waiting outside the burning building, hoping for hope. No one warned them they were dangerous, everyone told the BBC.
