President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet picks face questions from senators ahead of a vote on his nomination.
Pam Bondi, Trump’s former defense lawyer and his pick for US Attorney General, avoided answering questions about claims of fraud in the 2020 election and was encouraged to apologize for the January 6 rioters.
Senator Marco Rubio also had a confirmation hearing for the role of secretary of state. Rubio’s proceedings were interrupted by protesters as well as the announcement of a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza war.
