Who are the three freed Israeli hostages?

Doron, a 31-year-old veterinary nurse, was kidnapped from her apartment in Kibbutz Kfar Aza when Hamas attacked.

In May last year, his sister, Yamit Ashkenazi, wrote an emotional letter through the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, calling him “my sunshine”.

“I hope you can feel the energy we are sending you,” it read.

“I hope you realize, at least, some of the battles we fought here to release you. I hope you can enjoy it all. Loving you, missing you, heartbroken, but still fighting for you.”

And in a previous article, Doron was described as “the glue that connects all his friends, sensitive and funny, always smiling and the first to offer help”.

She studied theater and film at school, and developed a love for animals that led her to become a veterinary nurse.

Speaking to the BBC in November 2023, Doron Yamit’s sister spoke of a new tattoo. It reads: “As the sun we will rise again”, but some of the sun’s rays are lost.

“It will be added when he gets home,” he added.
